I would say that you are my main influence on the banjo playing. I am always impressed with your playing. I have an album, and I think the influence of your playing and the Bad Livers is obvious in my songs! Who most influenced you in way of play the banjo? Hugs from Brazil! -- Gigito
earl scruggs was my first banjo master. i spent decades learning everything i could find of his. john hartford for songwriting. and don stover. i never saw earl physically until later in his life. i saw john a lot and never saw don stover but studied his recordings in great detail. don was a great songwriter and banjo player. i never could even play one bar of music that sounded like john. his influence was more conceptual.
I am learning to play banjo, and it's going really well thanks to your advice and those great video lessons. I am so encouraged by this that i am beginning to learn to sing too, which i have never done before. Any advice on how to approach learning to sing at the same time as playing banjo?Danny Barnes responded on 02/04/2014 Next question
