I've been looking at chords like C6 and how it resembles an Am, and at diminished chords and how they resemble dominants; wondering if there is a way of practicing them that is especially fitting to studying them on the 5-string banjo?
as an experiment, take one of the many great free online theory courses, and use your banjo to play the examples.

Hello Danny. I was wondering if and how, with such a varied body of work, you judge the success of your past music/albums. Is the same criteria ultimately used for everything or is it more to do with how fully realised the idea has been? Or are you always just concerned with what you are currently interested in and involved with?
